The Power of Giving Back:
How Business Involvement Affects Our Communities
The holidays are a time when everyone can take a break from their hectic schedules and remember the reason for the season. To help us get into the spirit of the holidays, we trim our Clemson tree with twinkling lights, hang Christmas cards from the front desk, buy each other gifts, listen to holiday music, and give back to the community. But aside from the universal and timeworn traditions of the holidays, Oconee businesses make community involvement a yearlong priority.
A business’s involvement affects positive change and investment by bringing members of the community together to enrich lives. The health of our community has a direct impact on the health of our businesses. More business involvement = more prosperity.
Here are some of the ways that Oconee businesses have made community involvement a priority.
BASF, a manufacturer located in Seneca, actively supports several causes throughout the year. Entities such as Safe Harbor, Collins Children Home, Grace’s Closet, Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital, Keowee Elementary School, and the City of Seneca Relief Fund have all benefitted from BASF’s commitment to being a good neighbor in the community. Additionally, the Seneca plant is a member of the Keowee Key Community Partnership, an organization that brings community partners together to improve the lives of people in Oconee County.
Blue Ridge Bank has been a major part of Oconee County since 1957. Every year, its employees go above and beyond to serve our community, and this year is no exception. To date, Blue Ridge Bank has supported the following organizations: Toys for Tots, Grace’s Closet, The Community Tree Center, Lakeview Assisted Living, United Christian Ministries, Making My Mark, Fostering Faithfully, and Feed a Hungry Child PC. And that’s just to name a few!
Social responsibility initiatives are invaluable for allowing employers and employees to give back to the community with their time and resources. And as local businesses have demonstrated, we can also give our time to volunteer within the community throughout the year. With Oconee’s diverse business ecosystem and the drive to give back, our community can move mountains!
