The Anderson Oconee Pickens Showcase, or AOP Showcase, as it tends to be called, will have its annual event this Tuesday and Wednesday, September 26&27 at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center.
The AOP Showcase is a partnership between business and industry in the upstate and local schools in Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties. The event seeks to help the young people in our counties understand the decisions that they need to make now, in order to thrive in their future careers. Eighth graders from the three counties are given the opportunity to interact with company representatives from a wide variety of industries. This allows them to learn more about the pathway they need to take in order to gain the skills and knowledge needed for specific career clusters.
This event is also an excellent opportunity to showcase a small taste of the amazing things our local industries and businesses are doing and creating. The students and teachers who participate in the Showcase are always amazed by the number of high-demand and high-paying opportunities available in their own backyard.
This year’s event will feature over 30 local businesses from a variety of backgrounds, giving students a diverse sampling of the types of careers that are available to them in the tri-county area. If previous years are any indication, the Showcase will be a success this year and in years to come.
