One of the great things about social media is the ability for average folks like you and me to spread good news. Whether it’s pet pics, a beautiful casserole or a picturesque sunset, what makes these things so valuable is that they come from the heart. You cannot buy endorsements that will have a greater impact than that heartfelt picture of your loveable pooch.
At the Oconee Economic Alliance, the things that we brag about on social media aren’t our casseroles or our pets – and although we could justifiably post pictures of beautiful mountain sunsets from the westernmost corner of the Palmetto State, we don’t. Instead, we like to let people know what a great place Oconee County is, with its mix of industrious residents, thriving businesses and expanding economic opportunities.
Now we’re hoping you will become our Ally in spreading the good word on social media about Oconee County.
The Oconee Economic Alliance has kicked off the Oconee Ally program, a way you can be Oconee County’s digital ambassador to your friends across social media – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram – and let them know about all the things you love about Oconee County.
This is a unique opportunity for you to play a role in driving economic development in our county, and we’re hoping you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to help us get out the message about all the positive things going on here. We view economic development as a team sport, and this is your opportunity to be our MVP.
To make it more fun, our Allies will earn points toward cool prizes based on their participation, and the most-active Ally at the end of the year will be recognized as our official digital ambassador for 2017.
This might sound daunting: What will you say, you might wonder, or what if you don’t say it right? That’s actually the easy part! From time to time, we will email you relevant content that you will be prompted to share across your social networks. It’s really just that simple.
But simple doesn’t mean any less important. With so much interest focused on South Carolina these days, it is absolutely vital that we tell the story of our “geography of opportunity” and what that means, not only for potential employers looking for the perfect place to grow their companies, but also for people who are searching for a lifestyle that includes a wide variety of career opportunities in a beautiful setting that offers such rewarding adventures.
There’s a good chance you’re already acting as an ambassador for Oconee County, and maybe just don’t realize it. Just by living here, you demonstrate your believe in all the positive things going on here. As an Oconee Ally, you can channel your passion for our corner of the state and quite possibly help us make a difference for future generations of Oconee County residents.
