As part of the continuing efforts to position Oconee County for further economic development successes, the Oconee Economic Alliance and AT&T recently announced the Seneca Rail Park’s designation as a “Certified AT&T Fiber Ready site.”
In a world where technology and connectivity is a key driving force for most companies, this certification is the first of its kind in the Upstate and truly sets this industrial park, as well as Oconee County, apart from the crowd. Being Fiber Ready emphasizes the availability of high-speed, fiber-based services that are so critical for companies working on a national or global scale.
To go along with this designation of having the I.T. infrastructure to support manufacturing enterprises, this industrial park has all utilities in place and is a “certified industrial park/site” by the South Carolina department of Commerce. This, in addition to the due diligence being complete, proves this is a strong location for industry. The park is within a new market tax credit eligible census tract and has Norfolk Southern as the rail provider with one spur already in place. There are plans for tree clearing in early 2018 to open the site up and a new entrance road will be installed by summer 2018 to allow better access. In summary, all the ingredients for a successful location can be found within this industrial park outside the city of Seneca.
“This industrial park already has companies like Johnson Controls and BorgWarner utilizing the location for their logistics needs and now we have over 100 acres ready for tenants to join these world-class companies,” stated Richard Blackwell, executive director of the Oconee Economic Alliance. “There are not a lot of rail-served industrial sites that can claim to be “fiber ready,” “certified site by the State” and in a new market tax credit zone…..this makes for quite the “geography of opportunity.”
The Oconee Economic Alliance looks forward to marketing this new location as we continue to pursue future investments and projects. For more information, check out www.InvestOconeeSC.com.
